Joanna Chudy

A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow (2002) and the College of Photography at the National Higher School of Film, Television and Theatre in Łódź (2009). In 2013, awarded a doctoral degree at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.

Author of 20 individual photographic exhibitions. Participant in 40 group exhibitions in Poland and abroad, including in Paris, Berlin and Sophia. Engaged in creative photography within the stream of black-and-white classic photography. Since 2014, a member of the Polish Union of Photographic Artists; since 2017 on the board of its Mountain District. Conducted lessons on portrait photography at the Film School in Łódź. Lives in Bielsko-Biała.
Winner of awards and distinctions in national and international competitions., including:

Grand Prix in the 6th Warsaw Festival of Art Photography in Warsaw (2010)

1st prize in the “Portrait 2009” National Photographic Competition in Koło (2009)

1st prize in the “Aura” competition of Hogan & Hartson in Warsaw (2009)

Distinction in the Independent Photographer competition in Berlin (Germany, 2017)

Director’s prize at Galeria Bielska BWA in Bielsko-Biała at the 4th Bielsko-Biała Visual Arts Festival (2018)

Finalist in:

ShowOff in the Photography Month programme in Kraków (2010)

Encontros da Imagem – International Photography Festival in Braga (Portugal, 2014)

Itinéraires des Photographes Voyageurs 2014 in Bordeaux (France, 2014)

Festival Manifesto 2013 in Toulouse (France, 2013).

Awarded scholarships from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage in 2010 and 2018 and the Marshall of the Province of Silesia (2011).

Her works are located in Galeria Bielska BWA, the Historical Museum in Bielsko-Biała, and private collections.
